A certified book coach has undergone rigorous, professionally evaluated training to hone and practice coaching skills, with access to a suite of proprietary tools that result in an ability to offer structured, expert guidance to aspiring nonfiction authors. Among other things, your coach:

• Acts as a sounding board for creative ideas  
• Guides you toward your personal and professional writing goals 
• Is invested in your project but also in your overall writing journey  
• Helps you assess a book’s market potential and evaluate publishing options. 

If you answer "yes" to four or more of these questions, you may be ready for a book coach:

• Are you an expert in your field with a passion to share new ideas? 
• Do you seek to challenge conventional wisdom? 
• Is your background and perspective under-represented in bookstores and libraries?
• Have you begun at least once to write a book and then got stuck? 
• Have you looked for a book on a topic you want to read about—and couldn’t find it? 
• Are you hoping to establish credentials and build your brand in your field? 
• Do you have the time and motivation to work on a book project for six months to a year (or more)? 

I prefer to handle topics grounded in the humanities, social sciences, and physical sciences. However, that is not a hard and fast rule. I am open to a wide spectrum of creative nonfiction.

I prefer not to handle memoirs, with rare exceptions. I can help you find excellent certified coaches who specialize in this form.

The answer begins with determining whether we are a good fit. Are our work styles compatible? Our expectations aligned? Do we see opportunities to build trust? Am I going to be as passionate about your project as you are? Neither of us knows the answers until we have an initial complimentary call.
