FROM ZERO TO HERO
I prefer clients who are still developing an idea so that I can help them 'measure twice, cut once'--that is, build a strong foundation for the book before it's written. (Even if that's not you, let's talk!) I bring many clients from the idea stage all the way to a finished proposal that can be marketed to agents and publishers.
I am not accepting clients at this time who plan to self-publish. Nor do I coach fiction in any form.
ABOUT PRICING
I'm open to negotiating the package that is right for you, and I offer extended budget payment plans with zero interest. A deposit is required with every contract.
Use the BOOK IT link on the home page to schedule a free, no-obligation hour to discuss the vision for your book--and learn what I may have to offer you. I work with authors just starting out as well as those already published.
If you've been working on a book concept for a while; have taken a stab at researching, outlining, or writing; and are ready to conceptualize your book more fully, this is for you. At the end of 8 weeks, you will have a good grasp of your book's structure and scope, your ideal reader, an annotated table of contents, and at least one chapter drafted. Weekly consultations and written feedback included. You will be expected to meet weekly deadlines.
You are noodling around with a great idea, but you aren't sure where or how to start. We will spend four weeks developing a blueprint that ensures you begin answering key questions about your goals, publishing intentions, content, and focus. You'll also get a sense of the marketplace where your idea may fit. Weekly consultations and written feedback included. You will be expected to meet weekly deadlines.
For authors with a fairly clear sense of their book, I'll guide you through making a competitive nonfiction book proposal to take to the publishing marketplace.
I will read a sample of your completed manuscript (up to 50 pages) and provide a detailed editorial letter highlighting strengths and opportunities, along with recommended next steps. This includes an hour-long consultation call to review feedback.
I will research and identify at least 10 literary agents and possibly publishers who appear to be a good fit for your proposal, help you write a professional query letter, and devise a plan for targeting and timing your pitches.
If you are interested in a professional review on a more narrow topic, I'll spend 60 minutes with you on any of these ideas--or propose your own:
I offer "bespoke" coaching to your writers' group or other gathering of writers (up to 8). Together, we select a topic, then set up a first and last meeting in real time. In between, you submit pages and I provide robust feedback. A perfect combination of real-time coaching and off-line writing. You will take away fresh insights into your work and next steps.
