Flexibility is key to a successful relationship between coach and client. Core service packages listed here offer a range of possibilities. But I am always open to negotiating customized assistance that meets you where you are now on your journey as a nonfiction author.
1. A free phone consultation (up to 1 hour) to discuss your nonfiction book idea and offer preliminary assessment and direction, including next steps.
2. A free review of your nonfiction book proposal, outline, or sample chapter plus feedback by phone (up to 30 mins.)
If you've been working on a book concept for a while; have taken a stab at researching, outlining, or writing; and are ready to conceptualize your book more fully, this is for you. At the end of 8 weeks, you will have a good grasp of your book's structure and scope, your ideal reader, an annotated table of contents, and at least one chapter drafted. Weekly consultations and written feedback included. You will be expected to meet weekly deadlines.
You are noodling around with a great idea, but you aren't sure where or how to start. We will spend four weeks developing a blueprint that ensures you begin answering key questions about your goals, publishing intentions, content, and focus. You'll also get a sense of the marketplace where your idea may fit. Weekly consultations and written feedback included. You will be expected to meet weekly deadlines.
You have already drafted a proposal and completed at least two chapters of your book. But is your proposal as competitive, complete, and strong as it needs to be to catch an agent's eye? I'll provide written feedback plus a one-hour phone consultation on next steps.
I will research and identify at least 10 literary agents and possibly publishers who appear to be a good fit for your proposal, help you write a professional query letter, and devise a plan for targeting and timing your pitches.
If you are interested in a professional review on a more narrow topic, I'll spend 90 minutes with you on any of these ideas--or propose your own:
